11/29/10

Monday - November 29th (Even)

7th - After seeing the results of the in-class assessment on Tuesday of last week, I decided it would be a good idea to go backward before we move forward.  Some of you will be continuing to work on your website as we were before while the majority of you will be working with me to go back and understand the concept of HTML before we look at anymore code.  Which group best describes you?

Group 1 - I'm comfortable with HTML and my pages are looking good!

If you are in this group it's time to shake off the rust and get working on your about us page using the assignment description. If you are finished with the about us page you can work on your own to add music to your homepage.  It is not difficult and I'll give you some hints to help.  Find you music here.  This is a video tutorial on how to search and save music using that site.  Once you have your music you will need to use the embed HTML code.  Google it to see the exact code as well as the attributes that you can include.

Group 2 - What is this HTML that you speak of?

If you are in this group you will be working with me to review the vocabulary and basics of HTML.  This is a great opportunity to ask questions and better understand the how and why of what we are doing.  This will not involve any code but instead will be a discussion of what HTML is all about.

8th - To start class please save your completed storyboard.  Here is how you will do that:

Open up your storyboard word document>>>click on file>>>click on save as>>>navigate to the in bin folder on your desktop (click on the desktop icon on the left side of the save box)>>>name the file name your first and last name (ex. johnsmith)>>>click on save

Next, you will be starting your digital story creation.  If you still need to get music, use this site and make sure you find something that goes along with the mood/theme of your story.  When you find something you like, save the longest .mp3 clip available to your W drive.  There is a video tutorial for you if you need help using this music site.

After you have your music, you will probably want to review the PhotoStory 3 tutorial before you begin to use the program to create your story.  Remember that your fist slide must be an introductory title slide.  If you would just like to have text for your title slide watch this video on saving PPT slides as images.  You may also choose to create your PhotoStory images in PPT with captions and save them as images as well.  You will have five class periods to complete your story starting today.  Barring anything unforeseen this project should be completed by the start of class on December 13th.

6th -
